Bonding

The more I ride....the more I can't live without 'em.

"A horse is the projection of peoples' dreams about themselves - strong, powerful, beautiful - and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence." ~Pam Brown

I had my lesson last night and I learned how to canter on Gunner. It was so incredible! My trainer said I did great! I went home a happy student. :)

Happy Friday all! Tonight I have a date with a few spirits. I've already had a few impressions come to me. We'll see if I'm right. ;)

I love that photo. We finally got a horse for my daughter a couple of weeks ago. Her name is Larni and she is really smart, a bit spoilt but a great horse. She's three quarters Arabian and 1 quarter stockhorse.

What a lovely photo! I used to ride when I was a teenager but unfortunately gave it up, for work reasons, on moving to London and then LA! Must take it up again soon here in Andalucia. After all, this is the home of the Spanish Riding School!

Thank you so much for the lovely comments - glad you enjoy the fun! What I hope is my posts do a bit to help lift the doom & gloom all around in these recessionary times...!

Have a wonderful Friday!

What a great photo. I'm glad you are having fun with the horses.

I've never ridden a horse... only led our son around on a pony named Touchdown. He was plump and a smartass. He would inflated his lungs when they put the saddle on him. So therefore when he was ridden the saddle would roll. He also stepped on human feet purposely... such delightful memories :-)

My favorite books to read as a teen were about horses and dogs :-)

I too love this picture..you have found your true calling and passion..isn't that what life is all about?! Yeah, it is. I'm thrilled you get to go out and find some spirits tonight, we've had a few around here in Maine lately,,Poland, Maine to be exact. A sighting on route 26...apparently she hopped a ride with a young man then dissappeared after he dropped her off at a church.. this was creepy.. have fun and let us know what you find. Hugs to you!!!

congrats to you! cantering is so much fun. i had a hard time learning to canter correctly but it could have been the teacher! finally i went to a german dressage instructor and they put me on a lunge line during the canter...wow what a difference not having to worry about the reins. i was able to give complete concentration on my seat, the correct position and movements. now why didn't that other trainer have the smarts to do that?

that was funny what zaroga said...most horses and ponies do that because most people cinch up fast and carelessly. you always check the girth after walking the horse a bit before the student gets on...my horses do not blow up as i cinch up one hole at a time. their comfort comes before my time schedule. love your pic, so pretty! canter on!

My daughter has been riding for 4 years now and I can not watch her because I am frozen in fear...but not her. I've watched her in video at horse shows and the expression on her face is sooo worth it. She lives and breaths horses as do you I see....good for you in doing something that you are passionate about. Have a drink for me...lol

Gorgeous picture.

Aren't horses the best?!

One of my favorite quotes was made by a little girl who had her first lead line ride who said riding was the "scariest fun" she'd ever had.

Just a few strides of "being one" with the horse and you're addicted. Have to repeat it.
