Eat, Pray, Love And Finding the Magic in Between

I recently saw this movie with my good friend and although I heard mixed reviews on it, I never listen to reviews. So, I saw it. I loved it and I related to Julia Robert's character in the movie so, so much! I'm sure a lot of us, in fact, can relate to her character (or should I say Elizabeth Gilbert). The journey to find yourself can be presently surprising and at the same time scary, especially when having to face your own flaws. Once we do find the happiness within, whether through spirituality or great food (as depicted in the movie) the possiblities become endless! Yea, yea, yea, this is yet another Julia Roberts sappy film but every now and then it can hit at the right time....and for me, this was the right time. So, long film and all, I loved it and I don't care what the critics say! Oh and I am definitely getting the soundtrack. I LOVED the music! What you're hearing is just a taste of it!

Have you seen it? Do tell us your opinion good or bad! :)

I haven't seen the movie (yet), but I've seen clips & I can't wait to see it! =D
I'm not usually into movies along these lines (I'm an action/sci-fi/fantasy/horror junkie o_O), but when I saw the preview for this, it made me all twinkle-y ^-^
I'll make sure to write about it after I've seen it!
So glad to hear you liked it so well! ^-^

I am like you...I usually don't listen to reviews either. I have heard bad ones about this movie as well but I would watch anyway. I obviously have not seen it yet! I love the premise of it so I am looking forward to it. It's pretty rare that I get to see a "girlie" type movie. I usually let my husband do the picking so it's a lot of shoot em up types like the Black Duchess just described. I did choose Julie/Julia this year to watch and he actually sat through the whole thing....didn't like it much but sat there! I....loved it!! By the way....you look wonderful in that cowboy hat a few posts back....and so does the cowboy!??

Haven't seen it, and most likely won't, only because it's not the kind of movie I enjoy. But I am for everyone doing what they love to do. I do love the music. I have been an Austrid Gilberto fan for years.

Hugs, Kathleen

I never listen to what they say about movies. They hardly ever like the ones I love any way.

I saw this and loved the first part but then I thought it was so slow at the end. Not my favorite movie but was ok.

I wish she traveled to more places as I loved to look at where she was and everything around her.

I would only watch this movie if I was forced to by a lady friend. I do believe that it takes a lot more to 'find' yourself than traveling and eating, but I could be wrong.

I thought I would like it after seeing the trailers on TV. I hope I
get to see it. The last movie I saw at the cinema was Juno!

I like Julia Roberts in anything. I went to see it with my 25 year old daughter and we both loved it. I, like lots of other thinking women, have spent my share of time(ok lots of time) contemplating who I am and what I want or hope to become. For me right now it is about becoming comfortable in my own skin. If you have not read the book, you might enjoy it.

Yeah, I was surprised how long the movie was, but it sure made me want to travel and really find myself in a bad way. I love the line in the movie about how "Americans don't know how to just do nothing".. it's true, We feel if we aren't busy were lazy..not true.Europeans know how to enjoy their lives and how to find pleasure in small, wonderous things. I agree..love this movie and can relate to the title character very well!!

I am sooo with you- totally did not listen to the critics- read the book- loved the movie more and LOVED Julia Roberts in it! And parts of it so totally hit me where I am right now that I cried. I, too loved the soundtrack and plan on getting it. It made me pull my book out and reread parts that ironically I had highlighted the first time I read it (for my book club). I also bought the second book- Committed and read that as well. I thought Julia was perfect in the role- my other friends did not- but I didn't listen to them either! :)
