My first black eye

And Sir Aragon (aka Ari) gave it to me. What a nice boy. I was haltering him up, facing the right direction, doing everything right and wham! He decided to shake his head right when I swung the halter around his neck and his head smacked me right in the face...specifically my eye area. I'm pretty sure I recall seeing stars. I can't believe I'm going to show you these pictures. My hair is a mess and I have no makeup on but since we've all been close for awhile I feel like I can share anything!

This is the day it happened. The swelling took a couple of days to go down.

About a week later...

It's so funny to see people's reactions when they see a woman with a black eye. No one ever asks what happens either. Anyway, I still have the awful color but hopefully by this week I will have a normal eye!

Oh no...you poor girl. It made me think of the girl on the Bachelor last week who woke up with a black eye! She is beautiful, like you, and then had this terrible black and red under her eye.

btw...I love having a kitty in the cottage. Lily is the sweetest thing. ox

My story: When my mare refused a jump she screeched to a halt and I was still going forward as she raised her head. Long story short, my chin hit her poll and dislodged two teeth that required root canals.

My friend: She was cleaning her horse's feet. He swung his head around to assail a fly just as she looked up. The horse hit her in the face and she required a couple stitches for a split lip.

Lesson: Horses have hard heads. :-(

Enjoy your "social experiment" -- hope you heal quickly.

horses are lightening fast. so glad the injury wasn't worse! i hit myself right before christmas years ago with my tennis racket and got a black eye. needless to say, i became very proficient with concealor and i hid it quite well. and yes, everyone is afraid it resulted from domestic violence so they look away...know the feeling! lol!

Wow, that looks painful! I hope Ari apologized.

Glad to see the swelling went down.

Oh honey I am sure glad that's all it was!! You could have been much more seriously hurt!! I think you are still beautiful....with a black eye and NO makeup!! How brave of you though!! Quincy will be so soft up against that poor eye! I hope it heals very quickly! Did you try a tea bag?

Oh Michelle, I can so relate! Two weeks ago I fell bringing laundry into the bedroom to fold. Didn't see the corner of the carpet turned up (courtesy of my Corgi) and bam! Hit my head in 2 places (hardwood floor and chest of drawers), broke my hair clip and have a shiner that is pure black. My eye was swollen shut for over a week. When it finally opened, the white of the eye was blood red. Ice and I became really good friends! I agree, the reactions to a woman with a black eye are wild! People aren't quite sure what, if anything to say. Hope you heal quickly!

Yeee-owww! You're probably all better by now. My brother's Quarter horse stepped on my baby toe once--- not fun! It didn't look at bad as your boo-boo, though.
