I feel as though the week just flew by since getting back from Montana. I'm still catching up on sleep from the ride on the way back. I wasn't able to get a cabin for myself so sleeping in a seat was tough. Anyhoo, like any girl would do when looking at pictures of herself, I started analyzing pictures of myself from the trip with a fine tooth comb. Ugh! Where do those wrinkles come from?! Note to self, do not smile that big, yes you're happy, but not enough to show those "happy" wrinkles. In the last week I have started really thinking about my skincare and makeup routine. I need more color, less wrinkles, more highlights in the hair, more eye makeup..oh the list goes on and on. ;) Maybe turning 42 (or heck turning 40) brought out all those insecure thoughts (aka midlife crisis) Lol!
So, what I want to know is what is your skincare routine? Do you have products you can recommend, can't stand, will swear by? Come on gals, dish! I know Randi over at Beauty Be Good will probably have some great advice. Oh and Randi....I need help with the eye makeup. Should I wear more? What can I do to bring out my eyes. :)
I know sis...I can hear you now. I am beautiful just the way I am. I am so lucky to have such an encouraging sister. It was fun this weekend. She showed me a few makeup tricks and even some products she uses. I miss spending more time like that with her but hey, the little time we can get like last weekend, the more I cherish and appreciate them!

Oh my gosh seriously you look totally great to me. Very youthful and pretty.
xoxo
hey I'd love to hear some miracle skin care tips though :)
When looking at your vacation pictures I was marvelling how you look more like your early 30s than early 40s. I just turned 31 and I hope I look as good as you when I am 42.
I actually wrote a post on my fall skincare here :) http://www.cgldaily.com/2009/08/beauty-monday-september-beauty-thoughts.html
I was also thinking how beautiful you are in those photos with Tank. (Yes, I am still thinking about him).
(sigh) I turned 36 last week, and I only just started using a moisturizing cream
Q10 anti-wrinkle by Eucerin. I also like the entire Garnier line.
I think you still look great ... but I know what you mean. Once I turned 40, I really started thinking about it. I love the Philosophy products from QVC (I have tried everything over the years ... Principal Secret, Mary Kay, Arbonne, Philosophy, and now I am using products from a dermatologist that my friend gets me). But I would say my favs are Philosophy and Arbonne. For my make up ... I use Bare Escentuals and I. Love. It.!!!! I will never change that!
Michelle, you look great!!! I own more wrinkles than you and probably more stress!!! You are lovely as you are! Cheers!!!
i'm with your wonderful and kind sister... i think you are beautiful they way you are! but... i would say that if you are an eyeshadow kinda gal... play around and darken it maybe a tiny bit.. especially since we're heading into cooler months!!
and thanks for the shoutout.. i like to know that ppl do think about what i type and post and such... it really is just to get the good stuff out there!!
Aww I think you look great the way you are! I do not wear make up so I can't help you with that. I prefer the no make up/natural approach to my face. I do have a skincare routine though that I can share. I use the Mary Kay TimeWise products. I started using them about 3 years ago and love them. I'll never try anything else. These are amazing on my face. I use the facial cleanser every time I'm in the shower, then I follow with the night solution and then the moisturizer. And that's it! I do that routine if I shower anytime after 4pm. If I shower in the morning I do the cleanser, the DAY solution (which has spf in it) and then the moisturizer. All the items are lightweight, non greasy and make your skin feel natural and good. The moisturizer is a 3 in 1 so you don't need an additional astringent. Oh and yes I include my neck with those too. I have really dry skin but using those products I haven't had any dry flaky skin on my face! they are the best things i've ever bought for my face. And no i don't sell Mary Kay products, lol! good luck with all the ideas you get from everyone!
You're beautiful just the way you are! And I'm ever so thankful none of us have to construct our hair like that 1940's do in the picture. :) My favorite eye makeup secret... neutral colors from MAC. They're sparkly, stay on forever and last a long time.
This is the first time I've been to your blog. I LOVE IT! I will be back! Beautiful blog:)
Oh and I ADORE your music! My favorites are Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and especially Frank Sinatra!
Michelle, you are so beautiful, you dont' need any help. Kathy and I talk about how you look so young.I thought you were about 25 when I first saw your picutes.. It's not having any kids.. that'll do it! I plan on having a little nip/tuck at some point to just do a face freshing on my 50th!
I appreciate our girl time together too sis! I think great skin is first and everything else after that is gravy (well I hope not really)! Moisturizing SPF is my "can't live without" for my age...then under eye concealer (which I spread past "under eye" to "over face" lol) and the least amount of foundation you can get away with. Find a cheery blush or bronzer - that will give you a natural glow - stay away from deep reds and dark eyeliner....you know what they say - less is more the older we get! Cheers to your beautiful face girl!
Where are the wrinkles? I am not seeing them.
I use the Philosophy line of products and I love them. Love the
exfoliant, the booster serums, cleansers, fragrances. They should probably hire me for their sales department.
I'm with everyone else, you do not look like you are in your 40's!!!! I too thought you we're around 30 when I first met you. I've always been a less is best kinda girl and all natural. I think what we put into our bodies and how we live makes more of the difference. I eat mostly organic and exercise, but am not busy...I choose to live simple and stress free as much as possible. I use Aveeno products- facewash, moisturizer w/spf(radiance). I don't use face makeup rather a bit of powder(really only in winter)and bronzer(neutrogena), a bit of eyeliner, no eyeshadows(I think they weigh the lids down causing more wrinkles), and sparkly natural lipsticks(neutrogena and burts bees). I have been wondering if I should use an eye serum now that I am turning 43 next month. I used to use Arbonne and loved it, but I have no idea where to get it now. A girlfriend of mine used to sell it, but then moved away. I like to be able to just go and buy what I like in the store.
Michelle I think you look at least five years younger than you are... maybe more.
I put my skin care routine on my Spa blog: http://zarogas-spa.blogspot.com/2009/10/skin-care.html. Thank you for looking at my Spa.
I agree with the others: you are really beautiful!
As for skincare routine, one product I do like is the MediOmega (olive) Squalane that I got from The Vermont Country Store - http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/browse/Home/Apothecary/Facial-Care/Olive-Oil-Squalane/D/30100/P/1:100:1000:100020/I/f14019?evar3=SEARCH
I also like using a combination of Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Cleanser - http://www.paulaschoice.com/product/skin-recovery-cleanser/cleansers-makeup-remover - mixed with Product Body's Crush On You - http://www.productbody.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=43
Whew, Michelle... be thankful you don't have to smile just to keep your face from dropping off your chin!!! I have to go around with a smile on this 55 year old face so I can fool (yeah, right!) everyone into thinking I'm only... 35? 45? The face is a-droopin', kid! I wish all I had to worry about were laugh lines around the old peepers! To sum it up: It gets worse. The best skin care is healthy food. Eat your veggies and fruits--drink plenty of H2O, and laugh a lot at life.
