Ahhh...the sweet smell of lavender is in the air!

My lavender has finally dried and I'm storing it in a jar for future use! There's something about the intoxicating smell of lavender that makes me wanna...oh...what's the word....RELAX. Do you all remember that word or verb I should say. :) Well it definitely relaxed me while I pulled the lavender buds off the sprigs.

Have you ever heard of lavender lemonade? While I haven't tried it yet, I heard about it on the Oprah Winfrey show. Now, ya gotta trust Oprah, right? It sounds refreshing to me so I'm gonna give it a go before the end of summer!

Lavender Lemonade

Ingredients:

•3 cups sugar
•7 sprigs lavender (stems and buds), plus additional for garnish*
•2 cups fresh lemon juice (from about 12 lemons)
•1/2 cup fresh lime juice (from about 5 limes)

Directions:

In a large saucepan, bring one gallon of water and the sugar to a boil. Remove from heat; add 7 lavender sprigs and lemon and lime juices. Cool to room temperature, strain, and chill. Serve on ice, with additional lavender for garnish.

Your lavender is so pretty. I adore lavender and have always grown it, but we had to pull all our bushes out two years ago because of mice. Now I have one baby lavender plant growing in a pot. The other two died. I need to return them and get some more.

Yes, I've heard of lavender lemonade and I just bought some
when I visited the lavender farm.

I like to spray my sheets with lavender fragrance before I go to bed. Totally relaxing!

I love lavender and have a ton of it. How do you go about dying it and how do you know when it's ready?

OOooOooOOoo! is for Oprah, and it is also me "expressing" after having read O's Lavendar Lemonade receipt that you kindly shared! Dare to get [lavender] spriggy, I always say!

Ahhh, Lavender... It is certainly one of those words that sounds like what it describes. Once upon a time, I received a lovely lavender-colored eye pillow filled with, of course, lavender! Its scent was so very sweet and it was wonderful for tired eyes to bathe in. Unfortunately, I misplaced it at Camp one summer, eons and decades ago. If you have any extra buds leftover after lemonade, and if sewing a long, satin pouch might be up your alley, you could make yourself one ~~I promise you, you won't be sorry!

Happy harvesting on this most merry Lughnasadh Eve! Cellar Door

I've had to cut back on my use of lavender around the home since lavender can cause young boys to grow breast...LOL! Your lavender is so beautiful though! xo

A friend of ours sent us a gift of lavender syrup! I've been putting it in my ice tea and its fabulous! She included a recipe for a "lavender martini", but you'll have to go to my blog to read about that! ;)

That lavender is beautiful and so are your photos. Handyman grew lavender this year and I've yet to get out there and harvest some. I'm going to put it in a pretty jar just like you have.

I was looking for a picture of a cottage online so that I could use it to illustrate a blog I recently wrote (Meme Week--or maybe just Day) when I happened across your blog. I read that blog connected to it. I was immediately drawn to your music! Though I haven't read your blog yet (it is on my 'to-do' list, however), I kept the page open so I could continue to listen to the music. I've spent a bit of the morning, sitting in a rockin' chair, drinking some British Breakfast Tea and listening to your tunes.
Thanks so much for the music.

Loralee :)
