Laid up this weekend. :(

Well, I didn't do anything I had planned this weekend because I had thrown my back out. :( One of the things I wanted to do was go to the Funky Junk Sisters Flea Market but I just could not make it with all this pain. I had a headache that wouldn't go away. So, I read magazines and books and, of course, watched TV. One of my favorite cookbooks to read is this one. Susan Branch is so talented and her books bring such homey goodness into my heart with her wonderful illustrations and down home cooking. :)

I am headed to the chiropractor hopefully today if they can fit me in!
I will be drawing a name for my giveaway this evening so keep your eye out on tomorrow's post! If you haven't entered yet, you still have time. It's a few posts down! Good luck. :)

It never ceases to amaze me how much we have in common. I had a Susan Branch calendar a very long time ago given to me by my sister and fell in love with her then. I love the style of illustrations and text. I know there were recipes on the calendar, but never really read them, I was totally absorbed with the pictures.

The illustrations in that cookbook are so sweet! A fitting read for me this week as I am making my Dad an apple pie for Father's Day. I threw my back out about 15 years ago (at the young age of 20) and it was terribly debilitating. Feel better!

Sorry you were laid up! Magazines, books, and TV? Sounds good to me. My tea group invited Susan Branch to tea with us. She was doing a book signing at a local store and she joined us at the tearoom. She is funny, genuine, gracious and as nice as I imagined she would be. Se even posed for photos.

Been so busy haven't been able to visit...always miss you though! And I've intended to get a Birthday country gift off in the postal to you, but well, it's gonna be late...can't say when, so you'll just have to be suprised!

I'm so sorry you we're in bed all weekend with a hurt back. I've been there and it's no fun. I've just started a gentle yoga class which I hope will help get me in better health as to avoid such injuries as I get older. But I love to hang out in a cozy bed, covered in pretty fluffy's and favorite magazines and pretty music playing, sipping tea, eating treats, and romantic movies too. So, I'm sure it wasn't all bad. Hope you will be on the mend soon. Lovies, Fairmaiden
