Country Classics here I come...with my savory slow cooked mushrooms!

Today is my Friday and I just wanna say YAY!! Tomorrow my good friends and I are headed to the Country Classics to watch the hunter/jumper competitions. We are each bringing something we are personally going to make for a nice picnic. :) I decided to make one of my favorite vegetables...mushrooms! This recipe I found in an old Food and Wine magazine but I altered it a bit. As I'm typing the house is filled with the sweet and savory aroma of the mushrooms as they bathe in red wine, broth, and other amazing ingredients. I wonder what would happen if I actually did that myself? Lol!

Savory Slow Cooked Mushrooms

Ingredients:

2 lbs button mushrooms
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 cups Merlot wine (you can also use 1/2 cup chicken stock and 1/2 cup Merlot)
1 fresh sprig of Rosemary
2 sprigs (chopped) dill
1 large beef bouillon cube
1 large chicken bouillon cube
1 Tbsp soy sauce
2 cloves minced garlic

Clean mushrooms and put in crock pot. Mix the rest of the ingredients in a bowl and pour over mushrooms and cook on low for 5 hours. I mean seriously, how easy is that? Next, just sit around and enjoy the enticing scent! When the mushrooms are done, drain them and store them in the refrigerator overnight. They are BEST when they have been chilled. :) Enjoy!

I will take a picture of our picnic tomorrow. Also, I know I promised the "tag" but I couldn't think tonight. Lol! I will save that for this weekend.

Wow, cool sis! Did you have fun? Those mushrooms are to die for:) We just got back from vacation last night - had a blast! Paris went on trail rides almost everyday - the last day she joined the others to herd 40 horses out of the field for the night....

Michelle, your mushrooms look fantastic! I can't believe you've really been to Hoosier's Mama. How funny! It does totally look like you. Probably is a good thing it is farther away. x
