Caught in a bit of a funk.

I'm in a bit of a funk these days. Forgive me for not being creative on this post. I think there are times when I spread myself too thin, between personal engagements, trying to get caught up with things at home, worrying about Mocha. You all ask how I have time to do everything? Well, this is what I do. I go, go, go until I crash and need to just hibernate for awhile! I need to learn to balance things out. I have so many projects that I've started and haven't finished. Have you ever been in a funk? How have you pulled yourself out of it? *sigh*
Maybe I need something comforting like pancakes and syrup...

I might have to make this for dinner tomorrow night. :)

Take some time off to do nothing at all....I find it works for me, turn off your mobile for one afternoon, don't check your email for just one day in a week with an away message, take a stroll in the mall but bring just $20....lol trust me, it works! Do nothing for a day, try it! Those pancakes look enticing by the way lol, that might just be the best reward after doing nothing a whole day!

Hi there, I've just come across you, what a sweet site, I love 50's pinups too, so fun. Quincy has fallen in love with my cat Tilly, she looks exactly like the one he's gazing at in the book!

Oh Michelle, you have to learn that two letter word that is so hard for most women to learn..NO! It saves a lot of trouble. Helps to keep us all in check and does us a lot of good if we could only learn to say no. I have been there and pretty recent. Take a long look at all things and determine what you love. If you don't really love to do something.. don't. You'll pull through and be fine... take some time for you.. and you alone!!

In and out of funks all the time. My problem is that many of my projects have no end.

There are other projects that do have an end and I take one project and make up my mind to "just do it". Then choose another project and finish it.

But to get really out of a funk... chocolate or some sweet treat. That is why I made that cake :-)

Just give yourself a day of nothing or whatever you want. If that means nothing then it's nothing. Everyone needs down time for renewal. Pancakes help too.

Oh Michelle- do be careful. I know what you are going through ALL too well and it will take it's toll if you don't ease up and relax ( I sound likea mom...). You do NOT have to do it all...find one area that you can let go of for just a little bit so you can re-charge and you will re-charge but it does take time. Take care~

Yes...we women do way too much, way too much of the time, so just chill out and take it easy!!! I have started taking long walks,I walk to work which takes me about 30 minutes,I just hope it does not make me lose any weight,I need to gain a bit,not like I don't eat!!! Anyway, you stop by when you feel like it, and until then ...TAKE IT EASY!! x0x00x0x Chrissy

Oh Michelle, it definitely looks like you need to recharge the batteries a bit. The main thing is really, not to beat yourself up about feeling this way. Just accept that it happens from time to time.
There is a few things I do at times I feel like this. Sometimes I go somewhere where I have never been, it does not have to be far away, and just start walking to explore the place. It gives you lots of new things to look at, and to think about.
The other thing that helps me is writing "morning pages" or every night before you go to bed write down 3 things for which you have been grateful that day.
I know the feeling about the different projects, it gets you down, the thing the helps me sometimes is just to pick one up and finish it. The sense of accomplishment that gives you works its magic. Alternatively, learn a new technique, I always start jumping up and down with ideas when I do that.
Or... and this is boring, and probably only works if you are as bad a clutterbug as I am, clean out a cupboard. It is that sense of accomplishment again.
Two great books that help me too are Living Juicy, and probably even more so Eat mangoes naked by Sark.
And if all else fails, there is definitely always the pancakes. I am posting a fab recipe for them soon on my blog.
Sorry for the long ramble, but I hope you will feel better soon!

When I get like that...I head for the bathtub after telling the family "Do NOT Disturb". Soft music, a candle, lots of bubbles, HOT water, beverage of choice and something chocolate. I then soak for at least an hour. When you get out, pop in your favorite movie and grab a cat or two to snuggle. Wow...That sounds so good, I may have to do it tonight. All this garage sale prep has me stressed out. Hope you are chipper again soon!

Hi sis! Funks come and go, so just remember how to maneuver around them - exercise, pancakes, shopping or sitting at home doing nothing (not answering the phone or emails for one whole day!) will bring you back to center:) I wish I could take my own advice! lol Love ya!

Just stumbled on your blog today. When I'm feeling kind of low there are a few things I do to get myself out of it: a lovely bubble bath, retail therapy, and eating something super decadent and delish. Also loads of attention from the Hubby doesnt hurt.

Oh boy!
My middle name should be "funk"!!
I've learned to take a funk as a sign that it's time for me to "chill out" !!
Your body knows what is necessary, and I've discovered that you need to listen.
The other thing is that as women we tend to have the need to try to do it all...all the time!!
We should take a key from our little fur kids.
They eat, nap, potty, and play!xoxo,
jen

I was just in a big of a blog-related funk last week. So I decided to let my brain goof off for awhile two nights ago and I watched a bunch of really shallow TV. Then my brain felt fresh and ready to read again the next day. I think sometimes I just push too hard and I need to back off for awhile and have a little fun.

Everyone who already commented is so right - you need to do what is right for you - whether it's time off, or saying no, or eating pancakes or all of the above. A big hug.

Maybe there is something in the air...I was in a funk mood too!!! Couldn't snap out of it before going to work. Well, I hope you feel better.

If you're in a funk, hug your kitties and then eat some pancakes!
Maybe you could just relax this weekend and not overschedule yourself.

I am guilty of trying to pack too much activity into my life and then I end up tired and cranky.

Take it slow this weekend and do something that you enjoy.

I seriously am in a Funky mood also. I don't want to read, don't want to create; and I'm not sure what I want to do. Have lot's going on in the next weeks; so maybe that is it. I'm just overwhelmed and my mind can't think of too many things at one time.

Hope you come out of your funky mood and me to. And yes, pancakes are delicous at night. (add blueberries, if you like them )

Oh yes, the funk. It's horrible when it happens but it's true: this too shall pass. Knowing that it's a sign from your body and mind to slow down and relax is important. And it's important to know what to do when it gets you! I loved all the good advice in the commentaries and will try some when it gets me the next time!
Good to hear that you're better!
