Saturday's Horse Ride at Sheep Springs

Okay guys here are a few pics from Saturday's horse ride. It was SUCH a beautiful day for a long ride. Only a few iffy moments. Ari got bit on the face by something and he sort of went out of control but he calmed down after awhile. Can't blame the poor guy. Then Magic wouldn't jump or cross a small creek so Debbie had to get off and try to pull him across. Well, while she was in front of him pulling...he decided to jump! He knocked her down and stepped on her hand but she's doing good. Just a bruised hand. Magic is still a little green on the trails. :) He didn't take off though. He stood right above her as she got up. I think he wanted to make sure she was okay. :) He definitely is a mindful young guy! Oh yea and a flat tire on the trailer when we came back. Here's the funny thing. I told the girls maybe a man will come by and help us. Well wouldn't you know, this couple came walking up the road and offered to help. Well okay, the husband of this sweet, sweet couple did all the work. We couldn't thank them enough!

Getting ready for the ride!

Diane and Lappy. Okay, get this. Lappy is a 24 year old mare and she outdid (is that a word?) both our young guys! It was hard keeping up with her.

Drink up doggies...it's gonna be a long ride! They did so well too. :)

The trails were narrow...

Are you jealous now? Look at this beautiful waterfall along the way. University Falls is the name of this waterfall. Notice I'm trying to be Vanna White. Lol!

Walking back home...

With a few drinks. Lol!

Me and Ari. Notice Ari has food in his mouth. OF COURSE! He's with me. Lol!

Trying to crack a smile...but I'm so tirrrred. :) Annnd of course Ari with more food in his mouth. A man after my own heart. Lol!

All in all it was a perfect day. :)

Beautiful trail, looks like a lovely day. However you lost me with the horse knocking your friend down and stepping on her hand. I used to ride when I was little but the older I got, the more I started to fear horses. has that ever happened to you? Think I'll follow on a bike :-)

Love your pics of the horses. Looks like lots of fun. Tell your friend to be careful, because horses love to jump on their owners when scared. I had a friend break his ankle and get stuck out all night in the cold because the horse jumped on him! Ok, I will stop being bossy now! Have fun on your next ride!

Yee ha girlie! Nice ridin' thar!
Sometime I wish to ride my mare in a western saddle...she likes to jump though so I would get the horn in the gut probably..me being the two point master!

I have my O.E.T. book out and you were 1,100 feet higher than us at Riley.
I loved the Vanna display of the falls. Wa did not want to cross those rocky creeks but followed the other horse..maybe you should have gone first and kept going..then I bet her horse would have wanted to cross! So glad she
is okay!
How long did it take to get there?

Wow, that brings back memories, nice ones! :)
Our US-friends used to live in Oregon, now they are in Colorado..
12 years ago we were visiting them, and housesitting while they were camping up in Sheep Springs with their Mule and Appalosa.
We followed them and camped with them for the last two days of their vacation.
They even let us ride their horse and Mule out on the trail, so cool!
I just wish we would have facilities here in europe, you know, campgrounds with horse padocks and stuff!
Great pictures too!
:))

This reminds me of Silver Falls State Park. I have been there. We were there in 2000 I think it was. We saw several of the falls there on that trip.

Sorry, I have fallen behind reading your blog. Catching up now.
