Have You Ever Seen Matthew Bourne's Version of The Nutcracker?

While I am definitely a traditionalist, this whimsically delightful version of The Nutcracker caught my attention tonight. I couldn't quite figure out if it looked more like a bad nightmare, something I was hallucinating or if it was an enchanting dream! Matthew Bourne's version of The Nutcracker is like ballet meets Cirque du Soleil. All week Ovation TV (on my Dish Network) is having a Nutcracker grudge match. Ha! They are airing six different versions of The Nutcracker all week. I know this sounds a bit excessive but I have watched every one of them so far and I'm STILL not tired of it. Still, this version really through me for a loop! If you have the chance check it out! Here's a quick clip I found on YouTube. Don't forget to mute my music down at the bottom before playing!

I'm afraid I still prefer The Bolshoi Ballet's version of The Nutcracker. :)

I don't think I've ever seen The Nutcracker... just bits of it. I've heard the music many times.

That's really interesting. I have to admit, I'd go for the whimsy!

I used to go to the Boston Ballet's Nutcracker every year
but since they moved it to a smaller venue it isn't the same.
See, another thing we have in common, we both love The Nutcracker,

I LOVE the Nutcracker!!! My eldest daughter danced in it when younger (then she GREW TALL and her ballet days ended so she took up the harp). I haven't seen this version, but now I'm curious. My kids adore the Ballanchine extravanza we have on dvd. As I've already said ... I LOVE them all!! : )

I haven't seen it live in many years, but I was lucky enough as a kid to have seen the Lincoln Center production a few times. It was always so beautiful!

Ok so the volume isn't on on my computer, but those costumes are cracking me up! It looks like a "vibrant" version. =) Your two cats are very cute. Have a great day!

The McCauly Culkin (ow however you spell his name) version gave my kids the creeps and I'm not sure I can convince them to watch any version now. ;)
