This evening I went to Borders to use a $20.00 gift certificate and decided I wanted to buy magazines galore. Well, I forgot how much magazines cost these days so I could only buy a select few. :( Anyway, they still had some Christmas issues out and I picked up the British edition of Country Living Magazine. I LOVE this magazine even though it cost me half my gift certificate. Okay, okay, truth be told I had to add some of my own money at the checkout counter. I didn't care. I am a magazine addict, always have been and always will be. I feel like I should be at a magazine-holics anonymous.....My name is Michelle and...and....I'm a MAGAZINE ADDICT! Okay, dramatic scene over with. :) Anyway, as I was flipping through this magazine I noticed an article about pet blessings. Ohmigod, where have I been? I didn't know this went on in the church. This particular church is in England and I just loved reading the article. This priest blessed all animals, great and small. So right up my alley. I would have to drug my cats before taking them to a church to be blessed though. The priest would have to bless all animals great and small and drugged.
I love that all the animals are running loose in the church. :)
Sitting in the pews....
If you want to read the entire article check it out here. It's so entertaining!

Hi Michelle,
I love that magazine too, but can only find it once in a while. Thank you for sharing the story, I'm going to go follow the link in a sec. I used to go with my grandma when we lived in San Jose and have my tiny dog blessed, it was so fun making friends and sharing lots of conversation while waiting for our pets to be blessed ;)
Have a great day!

Michelle...I love British magazines...they usually have quite a few varieties at barnes & Noble too. I love to pour over them. I love ANYTHING British anyways~
Cute picture of the deer & kitty.
I too had deer wondering in my yard the other moring. I haven't downloaded the pictures yet (computer problems)...if I get around to it, I'll post them!!

I actually got an email invitation from Paris' horse riding teacher because she's bringing her horse in for a blessing!
very interesting... happy new year to you... :)
Michelle, love the deer and cat photo...too adorable. The Episcopal church here in town blesses pets once a year. I think it's wonderful. I'm sure God loves them as much as we do. Never knew about a Brit Country Living...will have to check it out. Have a sweet day! Kathleen
Hi Michelle,I like your chocolate brown background... Had to LOL at your addiction to magazines--ditto. I've tried to stop several times as they are expensive. I could have bought a house by now with all the money I've spent on decorating mags! Now I check them out from the library or go through the stack I already have...although, you've just inspired me to go pick up a couple (just this once-- I promise!)
Hai Michelle
animals running in the church (crazy) hahaha.......not normal.
That picture is lovely that bambi with a cat veryyyyy sweet :)
I do reed also magazines hihi... the easy way ;)
That's so cute! If only they would let animals come to church! :)
michelle!! this is so funny. i love the idea of blessing animals. marley would definitely be a hard dog to bless. i'm positive he'd knock the priest over.
i will die the day you post pictures of your cats getting blessed. that would be a riot!!! i'd bring my cat and dog, too, so you wouldn't be the only one with misbehaved animals.
that is just precious!
I love the photo of the deer checking out the kitty--how sweet.
Are you still buried in snow?
Love the article. It makes sense that the animals be where people worship, as they were there to worship Jesus on the night of his birth,,, the sheep, sheep dogs, donkey's, camels, and possibly a cow or two. If we followed the animals,, we might actually do a little better in life. Blessings to you today...
Hi! I too just discovered the British issue of Country Living based on some of the articles and locations of things. It's a beautiful magazine! Our church does the pet blessings- but outside rather than inside. We've never brought the dogs- thought about it and it does sound interesting...
Take care!

High five *hand slap* girlfriend!! I too am a magazine addict! Every once in a while I have to splurge and buy a bunch of the european mags...some of them are soooo fabulous! And I LOVED the article!! I would have taken all four of my dogs and my cat!*winks* Why don't we have something like this?!! Vanna
aww pet blessings! love it!
i pray over my dogs all the time. i know people would think i am crazy and say prayers are for people, but my dogs are extremely important to me. :)
Oh, I love that British country Living magazine. I've picked it up on occasion. It's beautiful.
We have a blessing of the pets at my church every October. I never brought Molly because she'd be to scared with all the dogs running around. I think I'll go next year just for the photo opportunity.
I like the British Country Living edition better than the U.S. one. I wish we could subscribe to it.
I've seen the British ed. in the stores, but haven't flipped through one... yes, I am an addict too! Where do I go to sign up for the meetings?! Don't you just love the blessing of the pets? I saw an article online about a Church in the USA that does the same thing, but for the life of me I cannot recall the location... I'd love to be able to take all of my "babies" and have them blessed... I just think it's such a sweet idea! Thanks for sharing the great photos, Michelle... have a beautiful day!
~hugs~

I love magazines too. I do limit myself on the number of them and the amount I pay for them... nothing over $12 a year for any subscription. Sometimes I can get them as low as $5. It depends on how badly they want me back as a subscriber. I have seen the Country Living Magazine... maybe in a doctor's office. I used to frequent our local bookstore's magazine section and actually sit and flip through a few magazines. Mmm... why did that change when my husband retired ;-0 ... I need to get back into old habits.
They probably have a blessing of the animals in your area... google it :-)
I think I've mentioned to you before that I'm a magazine addict too. I need to come to face that fact that I'll never get them all read, and need to let some subs lapse and just donate the issues older than 2008. *sigh*
LOL about your having to drug your cats before taking them to that church!
