A Wonderful New Years Eve, A Wonderful New Years Day!

Well I must say, last night was exactly how I wanted it (not that I always want things my way). ;) Jim took me out to a wonderful prime rib dinner at Tad's Chicken 'n Dumplins. It's a beautiful restaurant that sits on the Sandy River in Troutdale, Oregon. Tad's dates back to the 1920's and is obviously known for chicken and dumplings but last night we both decided on prime rib dinners. I tried to take a few pictures that evening but I put my camera away and decided this evening would be about Jim and I. :) We got a perfect table by the window that overlooked the river. Unfortunately it was dark outside....but you could still see some snow on the banks of the river. We spent the rest of the evening at home watching the ball drop in Time Square....then proceeded to fall asleep right after. We aren't getting any younger! Man it's hard staying up that late anymore.

An adorable quaint lamp at our table....

They still had their Christmas decorations displayed. Loved this Santa.

Then New Years day was spent at home most of the day. It was rainy and windy out so we cuddled up on the couch and watched two Hallmark movies in a row. I also made us a wonderful breakfast of over-easy eggs, maple bacon and O'Brien potatoes. It was so good! Then we decided to go, as Jim would say, junkin'. I call it thrift shopping and we took a trip to a few Goodwill stores. I am happy to say I found my kitchen table! I have a dining room table but I was looking for a smaller kitchen table for a little corner in my kitchen. Okay, now if you can just use your imagination....it will eventually be refinished and painted shabby chic white! Guess how much I paid for it? $14.99. That's the best part!

Then we stopped off an antique mall. It was adorable. It had a cute little restaurant in the back like they had in the old dime store days. I pictured a soda jerk making some great concoctions with ice cream and whip cream! We shared a turkey wrap, chips and coke. :)

Then, I saw this sign!

Of course I had to put my tush down on this stool! To think, my tushy was sitting right where Kennedy's tushy was. *sigh* I almost felt like breaking into "Happy Birthday....Mr. President". I spared Jim the embarrassment.

Hope you all had a great January 1st! I just realized I am approaching my 100th post. I have decided I will have my first giveaway on my 100th post. I can't wait!

I haven't gone to Tad's yet but I hear it's wonderful. It sounds like you had a wonderful New Years and a fun time "junkin". The table will look great when you are finished with it.

It sounds like a totally perfect date all around!

That table was an incredible find at $4.99!! And you made me drool with mentioning chicken and dumplings (one of my fav dishes).

I think it would have been funny to sing "Happy Birthday..Mr. President" at that point! ;D

Sounds like you had a great time. I am confused though...is Jim the ex-husband or ex-boyfriend. Either way you seem to be on great terms. Lucky for you! :)

Melody,

I'm such a soap opera, aren't I? Ha! I was married once (divorced 11 years ago) and have not been married since. Jim is my ex-boyfriend (and ex fiance). We were together 2 years (but have known each other for 7). We are just two hard-headed people (I think) and ran into power struggles in our relationship. It didn't help that we were both managers at work. Hehe! We are trying to make things work though. I know relationships take work and seems we both don't want to give up trying. He has two beautiful girls ages 13 and 16 and both girls and I have become very attached...so that makes it harder. Their mother (Jim's ex wife) and I are good friends also. :)

There's my crazy story!

Sounds like you had a great New Years Eve (just like your mom's!!!). Only difference, we saw the Rose Bowl on New Years day. that was exciting!

Wishing you a great 2009 in your beautiful new place on the hill! The pix I took from your window looks like Dicken's Xmas village and winter wonderland. Everyone here loved it.

Thank you for the great time i had with you while visiting.

Love

Mom
