HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUINCY and OLIVER!!

I cannot believe it has been two years since these cute little boys were born on March 17, 2007.
First of all a sweet gift from Kareltje and Anya! Quincy loves his tuna and loves having Kareltje as a friend! Thank you Anya and Kareltje! As you can see he's already made lots of friends!

I'm sure I've told the story before but I must tell you how Quincy came to be a part of my life. One day I was looking on the computer for fun local events and I spot a CAT SHOW! I'm thinking, I have to call Susan for this one. I know she'll go with me and I'll be really, really, really, super good and not take a cat home with me. HA!

The show was in Longview, Washington. We drove out that morning to this little building that had a sign out front that said "Cat Show". Mind you, Susan breeds Cairn Terriers and we're used to going to the large dog shows when they're in town. This was so tiny compared to that. Lol! Nonetheless we walked in and saw all the retail booths set up and ooh-ed and ahhh-ed over all the fluffy feathery things..and the toys that had balls in 'em. Heck, you'd think we were cats or something as excited as we got at all the toys. LOL. Anyway, we sat down and watched a few judgings, walked around a bit and out of nowhere there's this little girl in front of us with the cutest little kitty in her arms. He was so tiny and his hair looked so ratted...and kinda wet looking. I laughed and said...oh how sweet you must have given him a bath to which she replied no, that's the way his hair is naturally. Susan and I had never seen hair like this on a cat. She continued to tell us his breed was a Selkirk Rex. Still, we had never heard of this breed before. I knew if I held him I would fall in love with him instantly. She kept shoving him towards me (that little girl knew what she was doing) and kept asking me if I wanted to hold him. No, no and no! Of course, if people know me I'm very wishy washy and can hardly stick to what I say. ;) I agreed...and as soon as I held him my heart connected with his.

BUT, I stuck to what I said and I left the show without him and Susan left without one as well. We were so good and I was so proud of us! Then a few days went by and I just couldn't get him out of my head. She gave us her card and I held onto it. Dang it all! I called (or emailed) Susan and told her I wanted him! That we had to drive to Eugene to get him! Susan said, when do we go? That following Saturday we drove the opposite direction for a few hours all the way to the breeders house in Eugene. When we got there we were also introduced to Quincy's brother Oliver. That's when Susan fell in love. :)

Here is one fact you all don't know. Quincy's original name was Red Fred. Oliver's original name was Kemo. They named Oliver Kemo because he had lost all of his hair as a kitten and he looked like he was going through chemotherapy. They actually didn't know he was going to make it...but he did! Also, Quincy was a show kitten! He was actually showing that day we saw him for the first time. The first time that little girl stalked me with him....and forced me to hold him. I blame her for this whole thing. LOL She actually kinda did. She knew I was falling in love with him and would periodically just show up with him in front of me saying "Do you want to holllllld himmmmm?".

Today they are both two years old. They have given us so much love. I've never, ever had a cat like him in my life and Susan can attest to the same thing. There's something quite different about their personalities. I was telling Susan tonight that it's almost like their humans underneath all that fluffy coat!

And now....my life with Quincy and Oliver in snapshots. I probably have more pictures of Quincy than Oliver though. Sorry Oliver but your Auntie 'Shelle loves you too!!

Red Fred....

On their way home to their forever homes....

Their favorite position....

These eyes are so mesmerizing, aren't they?

And then Quincy doesn't care about looking cute anymore and lays anyway he wants....

What handsome boys!

Quincy luvvvvvs sleeping if you haven't noticed. ;)

And looking handsome. He loves crossing his paws. Hehe!

Happy birthday my sweet boy and my sweet nephew! They are truly gifts to us. :)

Thank you all for indulging this proud mother. LOL
Quick update! My girlfriend Tami just informed me that it's St. Patricks Day (I kinda forgot) and Quincy is a red-headed kitty. LOL How perfect is that? Thank God I happen to be wearing green. HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY EVERYONE!!

Happy Birthday Quincy and Oliver!

I loved reading the story. They were both cute kittens and have grown into handsome cats.

I can't believe this 'dog person' just said that :-) But, my in-laws' cats are winning me over.

Thank you all for you sweet comments!! Quincy and Oliver thank you as well and they're so glad you have made them stars of their mommies blog. LOL

Also, Emma had to go into the vet this morning because mommy was going to shoot herself! The howling had to be stopped and I coldn't wait any longer. She also took a chunk of hair out of Quincy and I didn't like that..especially on his birthday! Lol! I pick her up tonight and we should all get a good night's sleep!!

Happy belated birthday to the boys!
Quincy, I have never seen a Selkirk Rex before and am absolutely smitten by your floofy ways! Got a license for showing off that belly? It's pawsome!!! I'm a Norwegian Forest Cat but my belly floof is a tiny bit curly too. Like sheep fur my mom says. It's nice to meet you! And what a wonderful gotcha story!
