Orange Drop Biscuits

This is such a simple recipe and oh so yummy! I made these Sunday morning. I have to say Bisquick is one of my favorite dry mixes for pancakes and drop biscuits. Try this version with a little orange frosting and you will be ready to go back to sleep after eating these! I've also included an orange frosting that I use sometimes.

Orange Drop Biscuits by Bisquick:

Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups Original Bisquick mix
2 teaspoons grated orange peel
1/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon orange juice
2 teaspoons sugar

Directions

1. Heat oven to 400°F. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray. In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix, orange peel and milk until soft dough forms.

2. Place dough on surface generously sprinkled with Bisquick mix; roll in Bisquick mix to coat. Press or roll dough 1/2 inch thick. Cut into rounds with 2 1/2-inch cutter. Place rounds 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Brush with orange juice; sprinkle with sugar.

3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges begin to turn brown and tops are light golden brown.

Serve warm.

This weekend I sprinkled them with sugar but I also like to use an orange frosting.

Orange Frosting (you can split this recipe for a small batch of biscuits)

3 tablespoons butter
3 3/4 cups confectioners' sugar (1 pound box)
4 to 5 tablespoons orange juice (approximately) 1 1/2 teaspoon finely grated orange peel
Dash of salt
Directions:

Cream butter; add sugar gradually, alternating with enough orange juice to make frosting the right consistency for spreading. Stir in orange peel and salt. Frost while hot so it will ooze and gooze all over your biscuit (gooze?).

Enjoy!

I just made biscuits yesterday...but the savory kind, with the How To Cook Everything recipe. Very easy with a food processor.

I think I'll use your orange frosting on those. ;)
